Richard Carapaz: Giro d’Italia champion to miss Tour of Britain over visa issue

Giro d’Italia winner Richard Carapaz is not able as his visa hasn’t been issued at time to compete at the Tour of Britain.
Movistar rider Carapaz has hardly raced as winning in June, his very first Grand Tour success.
26, the Ecuadorian, was set to race alongside Tour of team-mate Mikel Landa and Britain debutant.
Carapaz will join Team Ineos from the 2020 year, after signing a deal this past week.
Movistar explained in a statement:”Regrettably, despite the Movistar Team after all procedures, Richard Carapaz’s visa for the Tour of Britain has not yet been granted in time for him to travel to the race,” Hector Carretero will probably be replacing that the Ecuadorian.”
In linking Team Ineos, Carapaz joins up with three other Grand Tour winners – Egan Bernal, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas – also as Ben Swift, that signed a contract extension.
