Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out of Sundays Premier League meeting.
The Frenchman, 26, is currently suffering from a foot injury that has limited him.
While Liverpool have an eight-point lead on top united are two points clear of the relegation zone.
Goalkeeper David de Gea is also a doubt for the match – he will have scans on Thursday.
If De Gea is ruled with the injury that forced him off in the second half of Spains Euro 2020 qualifier with Sweden on 34, Sergio Romero will deputise against Liverpool.
September pogba played at home to Arsenal on 30. He dropped Uniteds 1-0 defeat at Newcastle before the global break, and it has failed to recover in time to confront Liverpool (Sunday, 16:30 BST).
