Ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique pays tribute to daughter after tragic death

(CNN) — Former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique has paid tribute to his own nine-year-old girl once she passed away from osteosarcoma — a form of prostate cancer.
The 49-year-old published a statement on Twitter Thursday evening confirming Xana’s death and devoting hospital staff for their maintenance over an”intense five weeks.”
“We shall miss you tons but we will remember you each day of our lives, with the expectation that later on we will meet each other again,” read the statement.
“You will be the star that guides our family.”
The Spaniard, who resigned from his job as Spain’s national boss at June to spend time with his family, thanked those who sent good wishes but asked for”discretion and understanding.”
‘Speechless’
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) led the tributes online, saying it”mourned the sad lack of small Xana.”
“We want to demonstrate that our condolences to family and friends, joining us all today to their own pain,” it all now tweeted.
Among them Barcelona celebrity Lionel Messi A host of the former gamers of Enrique also paid their respects to youthful Xana.
“We’re together with you, all the strength of the world,” the Argentine composed on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Spain and Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea said that he was”speechless,” while Enrique’s former club Barcelona provided”condolences and all our empathy.”
Tennis legend Rafael Nadal also delivered his condolence to the familyroom. Nadal’s uncle Miguel ??ngel Nadal is a Barcelona and federal teammate of Enrique.
“I am really sad and I can’t imagine the pain of the household. A hug from a distance to Luis Enrique and the whole family. A lot of courage and strength in those hard times,” that he also tweeted.
A plethora of clubs, such as Manchester United, also paid their respects.
Enrique enjoyed a successful playing career. He won three La Liga titles, after with two with rivals and Real Madrid Barcelona.
He lasted such success winning the Champions League during his time at the Nou Camp, along with two brands and three Copa del Rey decorations.
Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu expressed his sympathy, writing:”Our compassion and support goes to Luis Enrique, his spouse and all his household at this especially painful time.”
