Braves vs. Phillies MLB Pick – September 9th

The Atlanta Braves Have Been in Philadelphia for a four-game series from the Phillies.

Their winning streak came to an end at nine matches, as Mike Soroka did not have a standout performance for the Braves yesterday day. Max Scherzer took control while Soroka was have difficulty with controlling his pitches. The Nationals managed to take advantage and pounced to get a 9-4 triumph on the Braves.
The last games of the regular are a lot more important for the Nationals, as they remain and try in the Wild Card Game. The Nationals would be hosting the Chicago Cubs if this game were today. More significant is how the Phillies function down the stretch.
Philadelphia are in need of some wins in September. Two games may look like nothing, but they’re competing against the Brewers, Diamondbacks, and Cubs. The Mets at four games back are still at the discussion . They have a lot of competition to handle.
A shortage is larger than it appears. In any case, having to perform lights out down to reach the Wild Card Game isn’t what the front office had in mind on this team. Instead, they were going to signal Bryce Harper and it went to put them.
Not even close, since the Phillies are just two touchdowns and two points behind the Braves in the NL East. The nearest group to the Braves in the division would be the Nationals at nine matches back. So, Atlanta are in a place and is clinch.
We will see how things play out, although the way I see it, they are definitely the team that are destined to the postseason. Mike Foltynewicz has been heating up of latenight. His re-emergence would help immensely. Folty gets the nod against Aaron Nola tonight. Head under for our free Braves vs. Phillies pick.

Mike Foltynewicz had a coming out celebration in Atlanta last season. He had a career-high ERA of 2.95 and there were lofty expectations to allow him to follow it up with another successful effort in 2019. For the most part, this year hasn’t gone as intended for Foltynewicz. That is an understatement, as he conveys a 5.28 ERA and 1.41 WHIP to Philadelphia on Monday night.
Is he starting to find out things ? He holds an ERA of 1.62 and 1.14 WHIP in his past three outings. August 8th was the day that he allowed more than 3 runs. The game that got him moving was an impressive showing against the Dodgers, as Foltynewicz allowed only 4.2 innings of work. A solid showing against a team like the Dodgers might be exactly what he desired.
If Foltynewicz isn’t pitching like a flash in the pan recently, which will be for real, then the Braves could find a great lift for their pitching staff. Along with Teheran and Soroka, the Braves would be in nicer shape than they already were. He’s been strong against the Phillies in his career, as they are hitting .230 in 252 at-bats.
Nola has been only fine. He’s submitted a 4.67 ERA in his past three starts. The Braves have joined for 23 runs and 9 home runs from 257 at-bats against Nola. In those 252 at-bats that the Phillies have experienced Foltynewicz, they’ve recorded 15 runs and seven home runs.
The Phillies would be the desperate team, but that doesn’t always equate to a win. Getting here looks like a great deal. Folty is believing it and I feel the Braves are being hammered at this price Monday.
